Volunteering is one ways of sharing your thoughts, ideas and sympathy to the people who were less fortunate compared to your situation. I used to be one of the volunteers who were sent abroad to help those unfortunate people. And I could say that it was an opportunity to me. Mingling with people who have different ways of life with yours is a privilege. This could help you develop senses, it could develop your personality and it could help you nurture into a better you. I’m not perfect I can say, but after the moment I’ve been with volunteering abroad my life change immensely. It was an awesome experience; there are countless lessons that became useful of being me in this present moment.
However, despite the redundant answers to this question (Why Volunteer Abroad?) there are still countless people who dare to ask the same. Working abroad through volunteering does not forcing you to do the project, it is voluntary. That would be up to you if you want to pursue the challenge. Most volunteers are graduating high school students. But then again, the project is not intended only to them but for everyone who were willing to lend a hand to those less fortunate people. Why volunteer abroad then? For me, it is because you wanted to help, you wanted to learn and you wanted to explore different culture within the different countries. If you want to volunteer, see to it that it comes from your heart. Sincerity here has a significant role, therefore before pursuing to get involve in the project examines yourself first if you deserve to volunteer.
Another thing to take into account when planning to volunteer abroad; working abroad does not mean that you are free from everything. Perhaps for some expenses however, whatever your plans in going abroad you always pay for something. During the time I’m involved with the program, I pay for some expenses that would cover the operation of the program. It’s just a little amount though, it already help a lot for me to pursue the project. After all, it does give me back a lot of worthy benefits.
