Ponderings Before You Jump for Internship

Posted by: admin on February 24th, 2010

Student InternPonder about paid college internship. You are already in your fourth year college and is there one instant that you had stopped for a moment and PONDER about your internship? Yes? None? Or perhaps you were so blank about the idea of internship and that you rode on into that ignorance into the gate of internship without preparation? You should not worry for millions of those who went into internship were also as baffled as you. But did you ask questions? Were you worried? Did you plan for your internship? Or you just drifted together with your other batch mates?

A well-planned internship really makes a difference. The entirety of internship definition can not be characterized in one experience. Internships are significant means for undergraduates. They hand down to students the chance to encounter different work atmosphere as well to acquire invaluable professional knowledge and skills.

They say- a precise and clear job description gives students the understanding of their role as interns. But the problem is when the company you are applying for also do not have such as extensive program for interns. This problem adds up to the confusion and your internship will end up without any direction. So whats next?

Before you write your application and resume for a particular company. It is but necessary for students to scrutinize the company they are applying for. The programs and the objectives of the said company should be stated and the company should take the effort to orient interns before they start their internship.

Even on summer internship such careful planning and pre-application steps should be taken. Your school or university particularly your department should know where you are most strong at and thus strive for internship that develops and adds up to your skills.

Your ponderings should have at least led you to this kind of thinking and if everything does not work out as expected. Then make the most of it. For every situation is a learning process.

The Irony of International Internship

Posted by: admin on October 26th, 2009

Students for International Internship

I am perusing for a good internship destination abroad and I am eying for United States of America. And an article got my attention. It talks about students of United States crossing borders to gain new insights and experience. The irony is many students would loved and coveted to enter the United States of America for international internship opportunities yet their very own students would just love to enter new territories to gain new and fresh insights besides what is available in their country.

International summer internships are costly yet worth it. And students are saving to be able to grab one chance of an internship outside their country for CV purposes. United States internship was never enough for US students. They wanted to conquer even the unknown. This confuses me at first. What are the reasons for such trips? But now… I understand the education department of the United States would like to bring the world into their country.

United States is a considered as the land of honey even up to this time and even with recession hovering in the country. Many tourist applications are still many feet deep waiting for approval. The glory and fame of the United States as a destination for international paid internship and for traveling is not waning.

There are as many students that wanted to get in the country and go out from the country just to grab their international internship opportunities. Summers now means another thing for students.. it does mean weeks of idle mood but a flurry of activities and soul searching and working for they took part of international summer internships.

For you right now, why do you go to a certain destination? Why choose a certain intern abroad program? What are your priorities during your intern? Will you fulfill you goals as you set foot on your destination country?

It pays to be top of the class when on college and be able to get a paid internship. As universities brings the world to their classrooms by including cultural immersion of students on their study abroad programs and introduce their students not only to the variety of selective cultures but to the world by encouraging each student to broaden their horizons and grab intern abroad.

The university in the west spearheaded such international internship ideas and destination. This is to equip their students for the competitive reality of the work world. The high demand of competitive skills in the global market is the basis of such steps of these universities. They wanted to produce students who can survive the competition.

Now, the study abroad programs are slowly broadening their destination and pave the way for a more different culture not only of the east but throughout the world. From Ghana to the Czech Republic, from China to Poland, Germany to Paris – not the destination seems limitless, expansive, interesting and more farther a field.

Some students though prefer to work as volunteers abroad on a certain company during their internships; however this kind of intern can also be considered as a work abroad. So the students earn an international experience abroad while still during their study and thus benefit him as he looks for work.

One student observes that “experiential learning” is very much effective. The internship has given a concrete sample of the theories learned in the books. These theories came alive and are more meaningful and well-understood than just by reading and learning it from the books.

Among the European country, Germany as their internship destination really helped them understand history much more. A student who had studies history in connection with German history would really appreciate a visit to this country.
