
College internship is very hard to find and more so if you are looking for a paid one. Most college students would opt for an internship and they had found out that they are doing the things that a regular employee is doing. According to US laws this kind of situation needs a paid internship.
To US labor law; an intern should be paid when she is doing a certain task that is good for a regular employee. The employer should not benefit directly upon the interns work. But if the employer benefits from the work then the intern should be paid.
But the US government is having problems with the implementation of this law. For students are put in a situation wherein they should choose between these options:
a. Wail and file a complaint and set a bad record for your career.
b. Keep the work and do well on it and get a flashing recommendation that you can attach on your fat resume and hopefully land a good college job.
What do you think should the students choose?
These kinds of situation and this law are very hard to implement. Thus, lawmakers is suggesting a stricter procedure for hiring internship. If doing so then the foreigner interns are affected for they would be going through a hard process to get an internship in the United States of America.
College internship abroad should be planned by a trusted agency. This agency helps you in the looking for a company for internship abroad and if they are of reputable status then they would choose companies that can offer a good experience for students and even a paid one.
For some interns had experienced on getting the job that they do not like doing or not related to the course they had taken in college. This would be an unfortunate situation then.
