Are straight ‘As’ students given the most coveted spot for paid internship abroad? Are nights spent for burning the midnight candle worth it as soon as students apply for internship? Will they be picked for the best positions? Are the As in the Transcript of Records acknowledged during internship application?

Some straight As students are disappointed to find out that the grades that they worked hard for are not the only key to getting the best international internship that they coveted and worked hard for many years. Yes, academic success does not generally assure anyone for internship success.

Students should know that nobody will surpass a well-rounded student. Intelligence in the academe world should be supported with organizations, activities and connections that can boast and refer you to the best meat of every transaction, internship wise or job referral.

Some students might think that since they are working so hard inside the university they will be given a reprieve once they go and look for international internships; to their dismay though they found out that good grades can help but not the ultimate key.

Straight A’s students get the same treatment and undergo the same process like those who are not the cream of crop. Internships are the real test outside the university life. Though, I will say that it is only a glimpse and a little taste of what is reality.

The burden of responsibility of providing for someone in the family is not on the shoulders of these students…not yet…they are still students testing the waters of working. In this they can either fail or try to study what is reality and what is mere idealism. Here, the students will decide either to stick on idealism or move on to reality and embraced it.

Internship abroad or a study abroad opens so many doors… sometimes not too positive… yet the experiences are just the right factor to bring out and segregate the survivors.
