I dreamed of whacking my world of what I learned. I expect to make sales strategy programs for the top Sales Company in our country. Or soften and changed the most harden and juvenile student in the university. But I was surprised.
Most Interns abroad had lots of expectations or none at all, whatsoever. Or some expect something way off the mark.
Ask Intern students of her experience and I bet she will tell how awful the internship was. And awful means doing menial work instead of the things that an Intern expect. Menial work such as making coffee, encoding, mailing letters, running errands, etc!
Directors and mentors of big companies noted that Intern should have the right perspective. For learning is not based on how many new technical things you learned. But internship is also about personal growth and social networking and practicing the ability to establish relationship among co-workers.
There are also interns that are surprised by the kind of job that companies give them. And they are really pushed to do their best on their daily intern task. These are for Interns in smaller companies wherein the superiors have the time to instruct and guide their Interns.
In some instances like an organization in Malaysia (WWF), they trained their Interns as if they are employees and give them responsibilities like a regular employee.
