Ireland has been a successful economy for many, many years, and was labelled as the best place in the world to live in 2005 by an independent economic assessment which measured a large variety of factors, including quality of living. Ireland is home to the head offices of many multi-national companies, making it an excellent country in which to seek highly professional internships. A great many of these high profile companies are located in Dublin, the biggest city in Ireland.
If this were not enough, a great number of pharmaceutical and information technology companies entered Ireland during one of its economic booms, providing a variety of options when picking work in Ireland. Students will likely have little trouble finding IT internships or a medicine internship with one of the pharmaceutical research companies located Dublin and the rest of Ireland.
By far one of the best places to visit in Ireland, if not Europe, Dublin is also rich in culture, with a long history of literature, arts and theatre being created in the city. The nightlife is also very active and very busy, as Dublin is one of the most youthful cities of Europe, with 50% of its population being younger than 25. If that weren’t enough, in 2007 Dublin was voted friendliest city in Europe!
If you prefer enjoying yourself during the day or on the weekends when you aren’t participating in your arranged work experience you may also consider shopping at one of Dublin’s many excellent and well known shopping areas. Many of these shopping areas, such as Grafton Street and Henry Street, have been popular meeting places for decades.
A great deal of the population of Ireland is concentrated in Dublin, making it a very large city and also making it the centre of education in the country, meaning that plenty of cheap student accommodation should be available for those planning their internship.
